"De los diversos instrumentos del hombre, el más asombroso es, sin duda, el libro."
Jorge Luis Borges
Hello everyone and welcome to my blog. In this occasion I'm going to talk (just a little) about of one of the most awesome and important inventions of the human history, the book.
Borges says in his famous conference "El libro", that the book (in contrast with all the others inventions that are extensions of the human body), is an extension of the memory and imagination. For me, to read is not too different from to live. I believe that when we read, we have the possibility of recreated or revived the different scenes or images of a text. In the Iliad, for example, We can fight and died with Hector.
I buy books very usually because I like to read all the days, preferentially in the afternoon or in the night. I often read out loud to pronounce and heard the words (especially when I'm reading poems).
I can't conceive a world without books, but if I didn't read, my life would be very poor indeed.
Now I'm reading the complete tales by Edgar Allan Poe; then, I'm going to read "The genealogy of morals" by Friedrich Nietzsche.
Men your so right, and i see the books from another perspective, because telling stories and historic facts it's just one of the uses of the book, but without them, the knowledge wouldn't have been preserved through time, and the humanity definitely wouldn't be the same. Big regards!
